Tales Of The Dreaded ERG

So, lately Dodge and I have discovered the joys of the rowing ERG.  It was a discovery that we made in response to having to miss practice because of crazy weather conditions such as 20º and 30mph winds.  Anyway we have since incorporated it into our regular training routine, and there is nothing quite like showing up to an 8:30am class unable to walk because you just had your but kicked by the ERG.  For anyone out there who is looking to spice up their paddling workouts, or make things harder for yourself than they already are, I have two suggestions... First try the workout on a rowing ERG, and or try it on a course where the gates are WAY to narrow! All in all it is not that bad, but it is always fun to do a workout where you feel like you are going to be sick first thing in the morning. This morning was defiantly one of those mornings!
Anyway.... Training is going well, most of the FRPA East crew will be heading down for a ten day intense training camp in Charlotte on Friday, which promises to be a good one with races on each of the weekends we will be down there. Fortunately this will be the last time for a little while that we have to commute to NC.  Something that we have been going for the last three weeks. Some people think we are crazy doing about 1,000 miles of driving in a weekend, but it is just normal for us at this point.... Hopefully I can get in to a routine now that we have this blog of updating on a regular basis.  In the mean time check out the newly updated FRPA website at www.whitewaterracing.org  and the new branch of the FRPA, the FRPA East's website at web.mac.com/nborst  I hope everyone this finds everyone well!
Cheers!
Nic
